Supply Chain Order
In November 2019, the FCC adopted a ban on the use of Universal Service Fund (USF) support to purchase, obtain or maintain any equipment or services produced or provided by companies that pose a national security threat to communications networks or the communications supply chain. The “rip and replace” proposal for the removal of Huawei and ZTE equipment remains pending before the Commission. The FCC estimates that it will cost approximately $1.6 billion to remove and replace such equipment.
